How the Cascade Killer Whales Swim Team Works:

  • Our swim team is led by our Head Coach Ryan Harrison.
  • Swimmers must provide their own goggles. If you do not have goggles, you can purchase a pair at the front desk.
  • Kids tryout for swim team with our head coach at no charge.

Junior Swim Team

Jr. swim team is for swimmers who have passed level 5/6 group lessons or who are able to swim 25yrds of freestyle breathing to the side and 25yrds of backstroke. This is decided by our head coach after the child tries out for the team.
If the child does not pass the tryout, you will be given options to progress the swimmers skills to work towards joining the team.
Jr. swim team is a entry level team that focuses on building the swimmers stroke skills and techniques. Swimmers on Jr. swim team are working towards meeting and surpassing individual goals to compete in swim meets and eventually move up to our Sr. swim team.

Senior Swim Team

Swimmers that have progressed or have been placed into Sr. swim team at tryouts will be working on improving and refining all strokes, developing powerful swimming by utilizing enhanced stroke and breathing techniques, and increasing stamina.
Sr. swimmers are required to compete in at least one swim meet a year.
Practices: Swimmers can attend all practice days or a combination of days that work for their schedule.

Swim team cost: $35/month

I was raised in swim-mad Los Angeles, where nearly every backyard had a pool and every community had a swim team. I swam competitively beginning age 8, first on age-group teams and then US Swimming. I went to school at UC Berkeley where I continued to enjoy the pool, but in this case, waterpolo. I coached an age-group recreational swim team of 120 kids through three years of college, and loved every minute of it. I moved to Boise twelve years ago, and then decided to “home base” at our mountain cabin in Cascade. I am married to Jessica, and am father to my own two (daughter 34, son 31) and step-father to Jessica’s three (daughter 24, sons 21 and 19) I look forward to getting to know the “swim tribe” of Cascade, and developing young swimmers to a high level of technical ability, speed, character and sportsmanship!
